Terms

The agreement between you and us, in plain words.

The short versionMake pages, share them, collect responses. Don't use this to scam, harass or hurt anybody. Paid plans renew until you stop them, and there's a full refund inside 30 days. What you make stays yours.

Who this is between

This agreement is between you and Whenabouts. You accept it by using the site.

If you're agreeing on behalf of a school, a company or a group, you're telling us you have the authority to do that. You also need to be 13 or older, or 16 where your country sets the age there.

What we do

We give you a way to find a time that suits a group, run a sign-up sheet, or see who's coming for something, and to share it by a link. There's a free plan and there are paid plans. We aim to keep the site up; when we can't, we'll say so.

  • Without an account, the private link you get when you make a page is your only way back into it. Keep it somewhere you'll find it again. We can't send it to you a second time, because we don't store it in a form anyone here can read.
  • A shared link works for anybody who has it, so give some thought to where you post it.
  • Keep your account address to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has got into it.
  • You're responsible for what happens under your account.

What you may not put here

Any of this and the page comes down:

  • Anything meant to trick a person out of money or details: a fake payment page, a fake charity, a fake delivery notice.
  • Anything that harasses, threatens or targets a person.
  • Anything sexual involving a child, which we report rather than simply remove.
  • Anything that breaks a law where you are, or where we are.
  • Somebody else's copyrighted work, without their say-so.
  • Collecting card numbers, passwords, health details or government numbers through a note or a question.
  • Sending mail through us to people who did not ask for it.

Anybody can report a page from the link in its footer. 3 reports from 3 different people pause it automatically while we take a look. Nothing is deleted at that point. If we've got it wrong, write to us and we'll put it back.

What you make is yours

You keep everything you put here. We hold it so we can show it to the people you share it with. We don't use it to train anything, we don't sell it, and we don't show it to anybody you haven't shared it with.

You also keep what people send you. What you then do with those names and addresses is your call and your responsibility: they belong to real people, and the law where you live treats you as the one deciding what happens to them.

Paying

  • Payments go through Paddle, who are the seller of record. Their terms cover the payment itself, and your receipt comes from them.
  • The price you see is the price you pay, tax included. Nothing is added at checkout.
  • A plan renews until you stop it. You can stop from your billing page at any time, and you keep what you paid for until the end of the period you've paid for.
  • Refunds: within 30 days, in full. After that, write to us and we'll look at it.
  • If a payment fails, paid features carry on for seven more days, and we email you twice before anything changes.
  • If you stop paying, nothing is deleted. The credit line comes back and the limits drop to the free ones. The retention clock starts again, with a warning before anything goes.
  • We can change prices. If we do, you'll hear about it at least 30 days before it affects you, and a price you're already paying won't change part-way through a period.

Stopping

You can stop at any time and delete what you've made.

We can close an account that's breaking the rules above. Where we can, we'll tell you first and give you a way to get your data out. If we ever shut the whole thing down, you'll get at least 90 days' notice and a way to download everything.

If something here is yours and shouldn't be, write to support@whenabouts.me. Tell us what it is, where it is, and that you own it or are allowed to act for whoever does. We'll take it down while we look into it, and let whoever put it there know.

What we promise, and what we do not

We'll run this carefully and honestly. What we can't promise is that it will never be down, never lose anything, or suit every purpose. We don't promise that in law either: the service is provided as it is.

Where the law lets us limit what we owe you if something goes wrong, our liability is capped at whatever you have paid us in the twelve months before it happened, or US$100 if you have paid us nothing. Nothing here limits what cannot be limited, such as fraud, or death or injury we caused. Some places don't allow these limits at all. Where that's true, they don't apply to you.

Which law, and where

This agreement is governed by the law of Ontario, Canada, and the courts of Ontario, Canada are the ones that settle a dispute. That doesn't take away any right you have to go to a court where you live.

If we change these terms, the new ones go up here with a new date. Anybody with an account hears about a change that matters at least 30 days before it takes effect.
