Volunteer shifts through the week.
A food bank volunteer sign-up sheet with two-hour shifts for sorting, packing and handing out, on the days you're open. Volunteers claim whatever they can make, and you can see a short-handed day coming before it arrives.

How to set it up
- Set the open daysIt starts with Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for two weeks, with more people on the Saturday. Change the days and times to when you sort and give out food.
- Say what to expectPut where to go, what to wear, and anything volunteers shouldn't bring in the description.
- Send the linkShare it with the congregation and your regular volunteers. Nobody needs an account.
- Keep it goingEvery couple of weeks, start a new sheet from this template so the shifts are dated, and share the new link.
What helps
- Closed-toe shoes and clothes you can lift in are worth saying in the description. Boxes of cans are heavy.
- Distribution day needs the most hands. Raise the count on that shift before you make it.
- Groups like a youth group or a workplace team can sign up together: one person takes the places and lists the others in their note.
- Regular volunteers often take the same day every week. A list of people with a free account keeps track of who has covered what.
Something to send with the link
Copy it into a text, an email or the group chat, change what you like, and paste your link at the end.
Questions people ask
- Can a group sign up together?
- Each sign-up takes one place, so a group of four needs four places. One person can take them all in one go and put the other names in their note.
- How do I add more weeks?
- Start a new sheet from this template. The shifts are dated from the day you make it, which a copy of this one wouldn't be.
- Who sees volunteers' contact details?
- Only you and anybody helping you run the page. Email addresses are never shown on the page.
